  • The mysterious red monolith is the weathered peak of a buried mountain range and rises some 350 metres from the desert, the red colour of Ayres rock (Uluru) is due to it rusting.

What a way to go to see a rock in the middle of the desert - Now to be fair as nice as the thing is to look at, when you finally get to this rock it looks exactly like you imagined it, as you've seen it on every bloody postcard and in every book since you've been over there, lets face it, it is only a rock!

Don't even get me started on the 'Dreamtime' beliefs behind the thing!.

Note : It is often reported that those who take rocks from the area will be cursed and suffer misfortune.
    - Bollocks! - its a rock in the middle of Australia, miles from anywhere that just so happens to change colour at different times of the day!

PS Didn't overly enjoy it! :)
