Ko Samui is Thailands second largest Island, the top being Phuket. Koi Samui has a population of around 45,000.

There were no roads on Ko Samui until 1970 and it now has it's own airport with daily flights to Bangkok and other major airports in Southeast Asia.

Ko Samui is a quality place! - it has some absolutely outstanding beaches, it is an island after all, and beaches and Islands pretty much go together!

The main one is Chaweng which covers most of the Koi Samui's East Coast and is by far the busiest. You can find the usuals suspects here, Starbucks, Maccy D's et al.

Also on the East Coast is Lamai, however it's smaller than Chaweng, but it's beaches are less crowded and cleaner.
Ao Tong Takian or Silver Beach - A small beach to the North of Lamai beach has mint white sands and a lot of nice corals.

On the north coast there's Maenam, from there you can see views of Koh Phangan [ The Full Moon Party Island ] to the North and to the East, views of Ang Thong National Marine Park. The waters here are calmer and cleaner than the ones on the east as they are protected from the North Easterly currents by Koh Phangan.

Bophut is the next beach along from Maenam, a relaxed more traditional place and popular with French tourists.

Bangrak - or Big Buddha Beach, because of the Big Buddha, obviously, - its close to the airport and is one of the calmest beaches on the island.

Don't bother with any of the others!, these boys above are fine, and a beach is a beach!
